Sky Pacific Fiji

What's the difference between the 2 models of SKY Pacific decoders?

SKY Pacific has 2 types of set-top boxes available to subscribers. The older model, normally referred to as DMT, is capable of operating on an MPEG-2 platform.

The newer version, normally referred to as Coship, is capable of operating on MPEG-4 platform. Both versions are currently able to receive and enable access to the SKY Pacific signal. The difference is the bandwidth capacity in each model. When SKY Pacific upgrades to the MPEG-4 broadcast system,  the new model (Coship) will be able to access and enjoy the additional features that will be available. These won't be available on the MPEG-2 model. Another important difference is that production of the old MPEG-2 model has ceased by the supplier, including parts and accessories. It has become obselete. To this end, we are recommending to all subscribers with the older model to switch to the new one.
