The move of SKY Pacific from IntelSat 701 to IntelSat 18 was successfully carried out in November, 2011.
A combined effort between Fiji TV, IntelSat, New Skies Ltd, Hughes Network Ltd, Ericsson, Nagravision, Coship and George Consulting, the project now establishes SKY Pacific on the new satellite with the service broadcasting on one transponder compared to two on the previous satellite.
One of the visible immediate changes that SKY Pacific subscribers will experience is the reorganisation of the numbering and sequential placements of the 16 channels. This is to accommodate any future expansion of the service.

All subscribers whose decoders have been upgraded with the new frequency software must reboot their decoders at any time after 2am on November 17. To reboot, turn off your decoder, turn off the main power at the power point, remove the decoder plug from the power point, insert it again, switch on the main power then switch on the decoder.
If your decoder software was not upgraded during the Over-the-Air push between Nov 9-16, you will need to manually set the new frequency.
Subscribers in Solomon Islands, Nauru and parts of Kiribati
Unfortunately, the footprint of the new satellite, IS18, does not cover all areas of Solomon Islands, Nauru and parts of Kiribati, including Tarawa.
It is no one's fault - the designers of satellites tend to direct their beams where there are people and here in the Pacific, there are not many of us.
You are of real concern to us - we have noticed over the years how SKY Pacific has come to be depended on and we treasure that.
We are not finished with this.
We have had very intensive meetings with Intelsat, the objective is to find a resolution that will provide content to these countries.
Longer term, we feel there is a solution that we can provide as a result of other considerations, and we are actively pursuing an interim solution, that bridges the time for us all that we can get to quite quickly.
In consideration of the subscriber situation, anyone in these territories who has paid the annual subscription will be refunded the remaining balance when we know what the ongoing situation will be.
More to come as we discover what can be done – but please be assured that we do care and are doing all we can to try to sort the issue.
What to do if you can't get Sky Pacific signal?
At midnight Nov 16 to 2am Nov 17, 2011, SKY Pacific migrated from IntelSat 701 to IntelSat 18. This means a change in the frequency settings of all SKY Pacific decoders. We had carried out Over-the-Air pushes of the new frequency software between Nov 9 to Nov 16. This would have automatically downloaded and saved on your decoder the new frequency settings.
If you were unable or failed to switch on your STB or decoder at least once between 7pm, Nov 9 to 11:30pm, Nov 16 , you will not see anything on your TV screen unless you manually change the frequency setting on your decoder. This is relatively easy and simple to do. Download Instructional Manual here.If you still cannot manually change the setting after this, you can book on-site assistance by our technicians or agents. Do note that this will be subject to our normal service fees.
